Enrique Iglesias talks to us about his impressions after a day of
shooting…
What was your reaction when Azzaro chose you to incarnate the Azzaro
Man?
I was very happy to be chosen. I thought that the campaign they had
imagined visually was going to be exactly the way I wanted and I think
that is important when you lend your image to a brand. You must be
100 % convinced of what you are doing because it will follow you all
your life, throughout your career.
Do you think that there is a difference between undertaking
something internationally and locally? What type of image do you wish
to convey as international ambassador?
Evidently, the more international the better. Which doesn’t mean it
is more important, but I think that we should only do what we are
passionate about. If you are passionate, about Azzaro, the perfume, you
are going to be artistically gratified with the visual results, the
campaign, the people with whom you are working. And until now I have
worked with people I admire and, for me, that is very important.
Today you worked with Steven Klein. Did you always want to work with
him? Did you know his work? How did it work out?
I really did always want to work with Steven Klein. I think that he
is a great photographer. I loved a whole lot of things that he did. I
was therefore anxious to work with him.
Is he pleasant to work with?
Yes, he is very accommodating… Sometimes, when you work with
photographers of Steven Klein’s caliber, you can never know what to
expect. I was happy, and I will not go as far as to say surprise, but
glad to find out that it is easy and pleasant pose for him and to work
with him.
What does wearing a perfume inspire you with? How do you feel?
Everybody you meet will end up associating you with this fragrance.
Scent is very important. We remember people by their scent so it’s very
important to smell good, isn’t it? Or to leave a fragrant trail that
attracts attention.
Did you always wear the same perfume? Would you like to change it?
I’ve worn quite a few. Generally, I keep the same fragrance for a
while, a few years, sometimes longer.
Today Azzaro Pour Homme, how do you feel? You represent this brand
and you were manifestly chosen for your sex appeal, your eyes, the
appeal you have for your audience…
Once again, I am very honored to have been chosen for this campaign.
I accepted this campaign because I knew that it would be successful. I
had the feeling that it would be creative, that I was going to work
with people I would like to be working with, and I like the sensations
that this perfume procures, the fragrance that emanates from it… I have
been totally won over.
Can you think of a song that could correspond
to the Azzaro spirit?
I have one. I have a title for this song. It is called “You’ve Got
the Funk” and I think that it corresponds perfectly to Azzaro.
Enrique Iglesias is currently working in a studio on his next album,
which will be released next year. After the release, he will also go on
tour because, as he says, « I get the goose bumps when I hear thousands
of people sing my songs. It’s an incredible feeling.”
