INTERVIEW WITH VANESSA SEWARD
Azzaro couture Artistic Director
Fragrances
“Enrique Iglesias is the perfect embodiment of the broodingly
good-looking Latin lover…”
Today, Azzaro chose an internationally known face to incarnate its
emblematic fragrance, Azzaro Pour Homme, and its latest creation, the
Elixir. What do you think of this new strategy?
“I think that this was a wise choice. I am thrilled because Azzaro is
revamping a fragrance as emblematic as Azzaro Pour Homme. In my
opinion, Enrique Iglesias is the incarnation of the brand’s iconic
product, which was in a need of second youth.”
What do you think of the choice of Enrique Iglesias?
“I think that he
was an excellent choice because he is the very embodiment of the
broodingly good-looking Latin lover… And, what’s more, his lineage and
the way he was able to assert himself in his own right, bringing to
bear his own personality, make him even more fascinating.”
You are Argentinean. Enrique Iglesias sings the praises of his Latin
American audiences, especially those from Argentina. He describes them
as “really good”, meaning very active and participating in his concerts
(knowing his songs by heart, etc…)? How do you explain this
distinction? “In Argentina, Julio (his father) is a real icon and I
admire the way Enrique was able to supplant the paternal image in order
to find his own style, and show his many talents. Argentineans are fond
of seduction; it seems evident that they are susceptible to his charm.”
How does the new Azzaro Pour Homme visual make you feel? And what about
the Elixir?
“I like Steven Klein’s work a lot and the new visuals, which are both
present-day and timeless. “
